Our Clinical Team

Master’s and doctorate-level clinicians lead our comprehensive IOP and outpatient programs. At our Colorado locations, we are lucky to have impeccably educated and experienced team members with a range of specializations.

Group Sizes

Our client-to-staff ratio

We believe large group therapy sessions deter clients from properly reaping the benefits of the group therapy model.

Most specialized therapy groups accommodate 3-5 clients per clinician.

Our largest group size, seen in skills-based groups (i.e. life skills, vocational skills) do not exceed 15 clients in one group.

Veteran & First Responder Therapies

Certified Provider

2 members of our clinical team specialize in veteran and first responder therapies. At Footprints to Recovery, we have a Valor program— this program is for U.S. military veterans and first responders and offers a curriculum specific to their experiences.

Trauma

Specializations

1 member of our clinical team holds one of more of the following certifications: Certified Trauma Practitioner, Trauma Informed Care (TIC), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

EMDR

Certified

3 members of our clinical team are certified in EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This therapeutic practice is held in high regard for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD, C-PTSD) and trauma.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you may have many questions about our rehab programs. Please take a look through our most frequently asked questions, and feel free to give us a call with any other questions you may have.

Do you live on campus or off campus?

It is your choice to live either in sober living or attend programming from home. You are not required to choose a sober living environment if your home is a supportive, safe, and healthy environment for your recovery.

What happens in outpatient treatment?

Outpatient treatment programs at Footprints are focused on building skills, a community, a support network, hobbies, healthy practices, and a routine that supports your overall health.

Your time in individual therapy during outpatient will be heavily focused on the individual treatment plan you collaborate with your primary therapist to create. Your individual treatment plan will be an itemized list of what you will be learning, working through, and gaining insight on.

What is my exact schedule during outpatient treatment?

Intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient (OP) programs at Footprints are flexible. Your schedule will depend on what you choose, but here are sample schedules for IOP and OP:

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

  • Therapy on Monday from 9am-12pm
  • Therapy on Tuesday from 6pm-9pm
  • Therapy on Thursday from 6pm-9pm

Outpatient Program (OP)

  • Therapy on Friday from 9am-12pm
  • Therapy on Monday from 6pm-9pm

Your sessions can be individual or skills-based group therapy sessions. You can also choose to include specialized therapy sessions (i.e. trauma therapy, EMDR, DBT, etc.) in your treatment plan.

Can my spouse also enroll in treatment with me?

Yes, we do support couples who both need to work on themselves. We will allow couples to enroll in our outpatient programs, but with that, you will also need to participate in couples therapy together, as well as engage in therapies separately.

We will meet together as a team to devise the best plan for each of you separately, and for you as a couple.

Our Mission

It is our mission to provide individuals with the education, tools, and support they need to attain a life lived to its fullest potential.

Our Vision

We envision a world where addiction is powerless against strong families and communities founded on empathy, connection, and knowledge.

Learning How to be Sober

Part of recovery is re-learning how to do life. This is especially true for clients who have been active in their substance abuse or addiction long-term. It is important to teach the recovering mind many things, including everything from how to process emotions to how to financially plan and budget.

No one is cured by attending inpatient programs, sobriety is a complete change in lifestyle— being sober from drugs and alcohol is only the start. With that being said, we teach life skills that are focused on managing emotions, getting through hardship, how to seek support from others, how to build healthy, meaningful relationships with others, how to get through cravings and respond to triggers, etc.

  • Managing Emotions

We all experience "negative" emotions from time to time, to live is to feel. Our therapies teach you how to give those emotions space, how to manage them effectively, or how to file emotions away until you can safely experience them at an appropriate time.

  • Connecting with Others

Learning how to build healthy, meaningful relationships with other people is vital to recovery. Good friendship isn't easy to come by, but our outpatient programs will prepare you to meet supportive, like-minded individuals who you can build relationships founded on reciprocity, trust, and common ground with.

  • How to Get through Cravings & Respond to Triggers

Relapse prevention is a large topic in outpatient treatment, because the world is full of triggers, and cravings to drink or use drugs come and go in early recovery. We work with clients to build a roadmap that outlines their personal relapse process, which gives a clear understanding of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that lead up to relapse. This way, clients and whoever they share their timeline with, are fully prepared to call out "relapse behavior" and prevent a relapse before it happens.

  • Striking a Balance Between Recovery and Life

A full life is a balancing act, and a life in recovery is no different. We work with clients to help them balance work or school with working a program of recovery, having a social life, doing self-care, having hobbies, and working closer to their goals.

  • Financial Planning & Budgeting

We teach clients how to financially plan for life, which includes anything from budgeting for groceries to what percentage of every paycheck should go to bills, spending, and saving.

  • Asking for Help

Most people in early recovery are not used to asking for help, but recovery is all about connection. Building and having a sober support network will provide support, guidance, and strong social connections long after treatment is completed.

Outpatient Treatment

Our holistic approach to treatment provides healing in the body, mind, and spirit. Sobriety marks the liberation from the shackles of addiction. No longer held hostage by substances, individuals can regain control over their lives and make choices based on their true desires and values.

Strength Building

Substance abuse takes a toll on the body, leading to deteriorating health and vitality. In sobriety, you will embrace healthier habits, such as exercise, balanced nutrition, and regular sleep patterns, which contribute to a significant improvement in physical well-being. We provide many physical activities, in addition to a gym membership.

Mind & Soul

Addiction clouds the mind and exacerbates emotional turbulence. In sobriety, the fog lifts, and individuals gain mental clarity and emotional stability. They become better equipped to face challenges and cope with stress in a healthier manner.

Re-build Relationships

Active addiction often leads to strained relationships or isolation. Sobriety allows individuals to rebuild trust with family, friends, and loved ones, fostering healthier and more meaningful connections.

Healthy Routine

Sobriety at Footprints opens many doors to rediscovering old hobbies or developing new ones. Activities that were once neglected due to addiction resurface as sources of joy and passion, helping you find purpose and fulfillment.

Personal Growth

During our outpatient programs in Colorado, clients engage in self-reflection, identifying the root causes of their addiction and addressing underlying issues. This journey of self-discovery leads to personal growth, increased self-awareness, and a better understanding of one's strengths and weaknesses.

Embracing Supportive Communities

In outpatient treatment, you will learn to lean on your recovery community. Your recovery community is where individuals can share their experiences, learn from each other, and receive support. These communities create a sense of belonging and provide a crucial support system.

Trusted & Accredited Provider

Substance Abuse Treatment At Footprints

What To Expect

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

We offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) during all levels of care, at all Footprints locations. Medication-assisted treatment essentially provides medications that have been rigorously tested and approved by the FDA to support recovery in drug/alcohol use disorders. MAT is completely optional during treatment, and can be discontinued or started at any point in the recovery process.

We offer every FDA-approved medication for medication-assisted treatment at Footprints to Recovery.

Medication Management

As a dual-diagnosis treatment provider who treats other mental health disorders alongside substance abuse, we provide psychiatric and medical care during treatment to ensure medication management for psychotropic medications.

Specialty therapies

We pride ourselves on our ability to assist your healing journey. In order to do so, we’ve built a team of clinicians who are experts in their fields of study, and hold a range of certifications for specialized therapy styles and modalities.

For Parents in Recovery

Our programming has been nationally recognized for providing ample support for parents of all ages, and their families. For clients who are parents of child/ren under 10 years old, we provide a specialized therapy called “theraplay,” a family therapy modality that provides trust-restoring exercises disguised as playtime, observed and led by a Theraplay certified therapist.

Family Therapy

Family therapy sessions are built-in to our inpatient and outpatient programming at Footprints. Despite flawed family dynamics before addiction, addiction affects the entire family system, which leads to disruptions in familial relationships if not addressed.

For the health and well-being of our clients, we structure weekly, clinician-led family therapy sessions, to address family issues and guide an improved relationship with each healthy and willing family member.

Family therapy participation depends on the willingness and stability of tentative participants. Participants may include: immediate family, spouse, close family members outside of the immediate family system, and child/ren.

Custom Treatment Plans

Each client is able to work with our clinical team to build their preferred treatment plan.

Our treatment plan is an itinerary for each program, which details a mix of the following:

Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q.

When you’re planning to make a decision that will alter the outcome of your life, either short or long-term, we believe in asking a lot of questions. If we didn’t address your question, please feel free to call us at any time– call (866) 951-5091.

The cost of treatment will depend on two factors: 1. which program(s) you would like to enroll in, 2. if you have health insurance you will be using.

Our programs boast an average of about 75% coverage by private or commercial health insurance plans. Other important figures that will impact out-of-pocket cost if you are using health insurance are your deductible, co-insurance, and active benefits.

We provide complimentary health coverage checks (online and over-the-phone). If you are not planning to use health coverage, please call us to discuss financing options.

The length of our programs can be customized to meet your personal clinical and medical needs.

Our standard program lengths are based on a 7 day medical detox, 28 day inpatient program, 30 day partial care program, and 60-90 day outpatient programs (intensive outpatient and outpatient programs combined).

We work with a wide variety of private and commercial health insurance policies. To name a few: Aetna health plans, Cigna, Humana, Tricare, TriWest, UMR, Meritain Health, BlueCross BlueShield, BCBS Anthem, HMA, Kaiser Permanente, Wellmark BCBS, Moda, Beacon Health Options, Providence Health Plans, Mountain Health Co-Op, etc.

We do accept health insurance through the VA, unions, and other plans through employment.

Unfortunately, we do not accept any state or government health insurance plans.

We can get you started right away, and depending on our census can likely get you enrolled the same day you call.

Before enrollment, we will need to speak with you (or your loved one) over-the-phone to perform our initial assessment, as well as financing/insurance claims. Our admissions team is very aware of the urgency in needing treatment, which is why we will work night and day to ensure you/your loved one has safely entered treatment as soon as possible.

If we do not have the space available when you call, we will find a facility that meets your needs, works with your insurance, and provides quality care and promptly set up your admission.

Our drug & alcohol treatment programs provide the highest quality of care— evolved over a decade of experience as a provider.

HOW IT WORKS

step-by-step

Get Your Clinical Evaluation

Your initial clinical evaluation takes place over-the-phone, and takes about 10-15 minutes in length. We will confidentially discuss your substance abuse history, mental health history, your current substance abuse (frequency, volume) and assess your substance use disorder(s) using clinical guidelines (the scale is simply mild, moderate, or severe).

Choose a Location

We recommend a location based on your clinical needs, after your initial over-the-phone assessment.

Estimate your coverage or cost

We accept a wide variety of commercial or private health insurance plans, as well as insurance through the VA. Typically, our programs require just a portion of out-of-pocket, which is determined by your deductible and active benefits.

Logistics Planning

We will provide any transportation needed to and from our rehabilitation centers. Whether you are traveling from out-of-state or from down the street, we want to ensure your safety getting to and from treatment.

Treating drug & alcohol abuse at the root

The strength and success of our programs are a direct result of the fiercely dedicated clinical professionals who are at the helm of the Footprints organization. We are immensely grateful every day that we, as an organization, are able to make a difference in the lives of many– those who trusted in us, reached out for help, or became part of their loved one’s recovery.

Without the resiliency of our clients, we would not be able to fully comprehend the human propensity to overcome and recover.
