Methodology
Therapy

At the heart of our rehabilitation programs is clinical excellence. We provide a range of therapies, clinical direction, and daily detailed clinical meetings to establish each client's progress and current struggles.

Mental Health

Mental health is a huge component of treatment at Footprints. Not only are alcohol and substance use disorders categorized as a mental health disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders, but of the 20.3 million adults with substance use disorders, almost 38% also have a mental health disorder.

Family Healing

Family therapy is a building block of our programming here at Footprints. We facilitate in-person and virtual family therapy sessions for spouses or significant others, parents, children, and siblings. We strongly encourage participation in family therapy for those who are able and healthy enough to have involvement in the treatment process.

Support Network

Introducing the group therapy model early in treatment helps us to lay the groundwork for our clients to anticipate support from healthy, reciprocal relationships. We grow this notion through each conversation with a clinician and further cement it in programs of recovery. Building a network of support provides accountability, connection, socialization, motivation, advice, relatability, interpersonal effectiveness, and so much more.

Recovery Programs

We help our clients establish a strong program of recovery. Whether clients choose a traditional 12 step program (i.e. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, etc.) or an alternative program. We offer Refuge recovery and Recovery Dharma, which are programs based on Buddhist principles, as well as SMART recovery, Celebrate Recovery (a Christian-based program), and many more.

Self-Sufficiency

Our goal before you complete our program(s) is to set you up for success in sobriety. We help you build life skills with nutrition and finance workshops, vocational services to help you get a job or go back to a job, assistance with enrolling or re-enrolling in college or trade schools, and we teach you how to be your own health advocate.

Our alcohol rehab programs provide the highest quality of care— evolved over a decade of experience as a provider.

Rehabilitation Programs

Throughout our drug & alcohol treatment programs at Footprints to Recovery, we guide you in re-building a life reliant on meaningful experiences & relationships, healthy coping mechanisms, and enriching your life in ways that bring you closer to your goals.

Our medical detoxification program at Footprints to Recovery provides 24-hour medical monitoring, in-house doctor appointments, and psychotherapy to begin the recovery process. You will meet with a doctor to discuss your alcohol consumption history, pre-existing diagnoses, medical history, current symptoms, and family medical history in order for our medical team to develop a customized medical protocol to meet your needs. We will prescribe and administer medications that manage any symptoms of withdrawal and provide safety from symptoms that can be life-threatening during detoxification.

Alcohol is one of the two most dangerous substances to detox from, so this process is extremely controlled and structured by our medical team. As a provider, we are proactive in anticipating symptoms to put your safety and comfort first.

Inpatient residential at Footprints to Recovery is heavily focused on recovering the mind from the thoughts, behaviors, and actions that once perpetuated your alcohol consumption. We rely on our experienced clinical team to collaborate with you in identifying what drives your alcohol abuse— many people may abuse alcohol, but not everyone will do it for the same reason.

Here is what happens during our inpatient residential program:

A) Our clinical team will craft a detailed treatment plan for you, which acts as a guideline for the therapies and topics you will work through during your time with us.

B) You will also be assessed and evaluated by a psychiatrist for any co-occurring disorders (i.e. depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, etc.) which will factor into your treatment plan.

C) We are a dual diagnosis treatment provider, so any co-occurring disorders will be treated simultaneously with your alcohol use disorder.

D) To help you uncover the drivers behind your alcohol abuse, you will work with your primary therapist, therapists with specializations (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), LGBTQ+ Allies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more), and certified mental health counselors.

During this level of care, you will still have medical professionals available to you 24hrs, therapist assistants 24hrs, as well as an on-call therapist for anything that may come up after hours. Our clinical team at Footprints to Recovery is impeccable, accommodating, and accomplished. Our team’s expertise is what sets our programs apart from others.

Partial care, also known as a partial-hospitalization program, just means that you will have some medical monitoring and treatment from physicians and nursing staff, as opposed to the 24hr medical care during both detoxification and inpatient. In Partial Care, our focus is on your mental and emotional recovery, therefore, this program provides intensive clinical care at its foundation. You can choose to live in a sober living environment during this program, or attend programming whilst living at home.

Here is what happens during our partial care program:

A) Our clinical team will evaluate your progress in addressing what was on your initial treatment plan, and evolve your goals, therapies, and topics to reflect where you’re at in your recovery process. Deeply rooted psychological barriers to your health and happiness often require more time and therapy than what can be provided in shorter term programs, so some topics may stay a clinical focus in your new treatment plan.

B) Whichever program of recovery you have chosen to lean into during early recovery will be integrated into treatment. This means you will attend meetings and support groups, begin building a sober support network, and have an introduction to the local recovery community outside of a treatment setting.

C)

Addiction effects everyone involved, not just yourself. This is why we offer a high-level of family involvement, therapy, and weekly counselor-led (virtual) sessions for family members to receive support and advice from other families whose circumstances are the same. We will educate you and your family members on what to expect and how to navigate your early recovery.

D) You will work continue ongoing individual therapy sessions with your primary therapist.

During this level of care, you will still have medical professionals available to you, in addition to scheduled medical appointments.

Our intensive outpatient program provides structure through ongoing therapy, while also being flexible and non-restrictive. IOP helps those in early recovery thrive within our unique community. You can choose to live in a sober living environment during this program, or attend programming whilst living at home.

Here is what happens during our intensive outpatient program:

A) You will meet with our clinical team to discuss your needs and goals at this stage of the recovery process. During this meeting, you will collaborate with our clinicians to build a new treatment plan, which will be your focus during IOP.

B) You will learn life skills to prepare you for independence in sobriety.

C) You will choose your treatment schedule. Most clients begin with three days of clinical work per week, before dropping down to two days per week. We have morning and evening options available, to integrate seamlessly into a busy schedule. Whether you work full-time, go to school, or have a family, you can choose sessions from 9AM-12PM or 6PM-9PM.

D) Family therapy and parenting (if applicable) will be prominent themes during this level of care. We offer in-person and virtual therapy sessions with family members, as well as Theraplay, a truly unique offering for our clients who are parents. Theraplay is a didactic child and family therapy modality that aims to build and support healthy child/parent attachment. We also use methods from this modality in therapy sessions focused on inner-child work, and in family therapy sessions with adult children and their parents.

During this level of care, you are preparing for complete independence and autonomy in the management of your health. We encourage you to set medical appointments when needed and advocate for your health needs.

Our outpatient program provides a safe space and flexible schedules to prioritize working on yourself. You can choose to live in a sober living environment during this program, or attend outpatient whilst living at home.

Here is what happens during our intensive outpatient program:

A) You will collaborate with our clinical team to decide what themes and topics you need to focus on. We have a wide range of therapy types and holistic practices that you can choose from when building your outpatient treatment plan.

B) You will continue learning life skills to prepare you for complete independence in sobriety. We will help you learn how to structure your days with hobbies, socializing, work or school, community, etc. and learn how to balance these activities with your recovery.

C) Optional ongoing family therapy and weekly counselor-led (virtual) sessions for family members to receive support.

During this level of care, you will choose therapy sessions to attend 1-3 times each week. We have morning and night outpatient therapy sessions to easily accommodate your busy work or school schedule.

Take a Look Around

Our Alcohol Rehab Facility in New Jersey

Dear Reader,

It is our passion to help you realize your power. It’s hard to be stuck emotionally, physically, and spiritually— not wanting to pick up another drink, and not believing you can get through the day without one. Alcoholism is progressive, so to say you will be in this same place 1, 5, 10, 15 years from now isn’t exactly accurate, things will only get worse from here. Asking for help might not be what you want right now, but we do know it’s what you need

At some point along the way, you wanted to feel better and you chose the fastest way to get there. Over time, it became your only way to get that relief. The issue is that the shortcut to feeling better is the shortest-lasting and the most destructive. Today can be the last day you wake up needing to drink.

We see your potential, what we do is help you reach it.

Sincerely,
The FootprintsTeam
