Footprints to Recovery

Drug Rehabilitation

Master’s & doctorate-level clinicians and doctors of addiction medicine developed and lead the curriculum of our nationally-recognized dual diagnosis drug rehabilitation programs.

About Our Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation

Our alcohol & drug treatment programs were designed by a team of accomplished clinicians and doctors of addiction medicine. Using clinical studies and researched methods of treatment, we developed a continuum of programs that mirror your needs at each stage of the recovery process.

Who We Are

We are a team of clinicians and doctors of addiction medicine, who have been working together for the last decade to make a difference in the lives of those who lost sight of their potential and often overlook their own resilience. We have expansive experience as clinical professionals and in our practice of addiction medicine. We have a personal investment in each client we meet who is struggling, and we made a commitment to helping each and every person who walks through our doors.

In the realm of addiction recovery, the path to healing is one of courage, resilience, and transformation. At Footprints, our mission is to offer a guiding light on this profound journey. We understand that making the decision to seek help for yourself or a loved one is not easy, and it often requires taking a step beyond your comfort zone. In this article, we will explore the recovery process, explain why traveling to our out-of-state treatment center can be a pivotal choice, and build a bridge of trust and understanding between us.

Our Mission & Vision

As a provider, it is our mission to provide individuals with the education, tools, and support they need to attain a life lived to its fullest potential.

We envision a world where addiction is powerless against strong families and communities founded on knowledge, empathy, and connection.

Our Treatment Programs

Our drug and alcohol treatment programs are founded on a clinically intensive, comprehensive, and holistic treatment model. Using evidence-based methods, we treat what motivates the self-medicating behaviors to provide a transformative healing experience. What lies beneath addiction is fear — fear that can take many forms, and will hold back intelligent, capable people from chasing their potential.

We view addiction as a progressive condition. Addiction will only get worse with time, and permeates its way into every aspect of a person’s life— their relationships, job/school, hobbies and interests, self-perception, and financial stability. Addiction does not discriminate, it can affect anyone who chooses drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism.

What is Recovery?

Recovery is breaking down barriers inside of yourself. Breaking down fear, pain, resentment, and trauma, and allowing you to step into the best version of yourself as you leave behind the person who once needed to cope from those things. Recovery is rewiring your brain to delay gratification, and finding that delayed gratification actually works to build you up internally, that it’s lasting in a meaningful way.

Recovery is chipping away at the perception that you need to feel better with something external. Recovery is learning better ways to cope and practicing those methods in lieu of substances. Recovery is an overwhelming sense of relief in handling the things that used to require self-medicating and self-soothing behaviors. Recovery is a sense of comfort in knowing that you can manage stressors, traumas, and hard situations without needing something outside of yourself to lessen the blow. Recovery is connection with yourself, your family, your friends, your community. Recovery is a commitment to becoming your best self, and striving for that every day.

I'm New to Recovery— Where Do I Start?

The best place to start is by giving us a call so that a treatment liaison can assess the situation and take action to help. We understand that making the decision to seek help for yourself or a loved one is not easy, and it often requires taking a step beyond your comfort zone. We hope to build a bridge of trust and understanding between us— we are only a phone call away if you have any questions.

Trust is the cornerstone of any successful recovery journey. At Footprints, we’ve earned the trust of countless individuals and families through our unwavering commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing support, guidance, and hope at every step of the way.

Addiction recovery is a deeply personal journey, and it often involves not just the individual struggling but their entire support network. Our treatment process is rooted in holistic healing, addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction. We believe that education is a powerful tool in the recovery process, as it empowers individuals and their loved ones to understand addiction, its effects, and the steps toward lasting recovery.

There are many factors that impact the course of treatment, including the severity of addiction, if the addiction has progressed to a state of physical dependence, the individual’s willingness to attend treatment, the individual’s environment, etc. We are able to assist no matter the circumstances, whether that be anything from coordinating an intervention to booking a flight or sending a driver.

When you call Footprints, you will speak with one of our treatment liaisons directly. Your treatment liaison will be your point of contact, although any of our coordinators can update your case or move an admission along in their absence. Footprints treatment liaisons can help with anything you need to get yourself or a loved one into treatment. They also provide program information, can check your health insurance coverage for any of our programs, and can be a support for you throughout this process.

What Should I consider before entering treatment?

We highly recommend choosing to remove yourself or your loved one from the current environment and people you rely on in addiction. Ideally, you should be nowhere near the people, places, and things that make drinking/doing drugs easy for you. Our recommendation is attending treatment out-of-state, or at the very least several hours away from that environment.

As inconvenient as it sounds, our treatment liaisons will make travel very easy for you or your loved one. We will book and coordinate all aspects of travel to and from our facilities, and we have many clients who travel from across the country to attend our programs because of their high regard.

Why travel from out-of-state to attend our treatment programs? The answer is simple: a change of environment can be a catalyst for change within. Leaving behind the triggers and stressors of daily life can create a focused, healing space where recovery can thrive. It’s a commitment to your well-being that speaks volumes about your dedication to recovery. The space also helps to create a distraction-free, safe environment.

Benefits of Traveling for Treatment

Going to a treatment center far from home will help to keep the focus on recovery. There are many other benefits, including:

  • A Fresh Start: Stepping out of your familiar surroundings can provide a clarified perspective, allowing you to leave behind old habits and triggers.

  • Enhanced Privacy: Attending treatment out-of-state can offer greater privacy and confidentiality, allowing you to focus solely on your recovery.

  • Specialized Care: Footprints to Recovery is renowned for its cutting-edge therapies and personalized treatment plans. Traveling to us ensures access to world-class care from clinicians with a doctorate in their area of study, psychologists who are licensed or certified providers of specialized trauma therapies, doctors of addiction medicine, and a team of professionals who make informed decisions for you or your loved one’s best health and interest.

  • Holistic Healing: Our treatment approach encompasses physical, emotional, and psychological aspects, promoting comprehensive healing.

  • Supportive Community: Joining our community of like-minded individuals in recovery provides a sense of belonging, understanding, and relatability.

What holistic practices do you offer?

For this reason, we offer a wide range of holistic activities and practices, including but not limited to:

  • yoga
  • breathwork

Complete Assessments

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

We are a dual diagnosis treatment provider, so any co-occurring disorders will be treated simultaneously with your alcohol use disorder. We provide medication discovery and medication management throughout all programs. We also have mental health counselors on staff, who you can meet with daily.

Specialized, Intensive Therapy

To help you uncover the drivers behind your alcohol abuse, you will work with your primary therapist and therapists with specializations (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), LGBTQ+ Allies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and veteran therapies).

Methodology
Therapy

At the heart of our rehabilitation programs is clinical excellence. We provide a range of therapies, clinical direction, and daily detailed clinical meetings to establish each client's progress and current struggles.

Mental Health

Mental health is a huge component of treatment at Footprints. Not only are alcohol and substance use disorders categorized as a mental health disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders, but of the 20.3 million adults with substance use disorders, almost 38% also have a mental health disorder.

Family Healing

Family therapy is a building block of our programming here at Footprints. We facilitate in-person and virtual family therapy sessions for spouses or significant others, parents, children, and siblings. We strongly encourage participation in family therapy for those who are able and healthy enough to have involvement in the treatment process.

Support Network

Introducing the group therapy model early in treatment helps us to lay the groundwork for our clients to anticipate support from healthy, reciprocal relationships. We grow this notion through each conversation with a clinician and further cement it in programs of recovery. Building a network of support provides accountability, connection, socialization, motivation, advice, relatability, interpersonal effectiveness, and so much more.

Recovery Programs

We help our clients establish a strong program of recovery. Whether clients choose a traditional 12 step program (i.e. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, etc.) or an alternative program. We offer Refuge recovery and Recovery Dharma, which are programs based on Buddhist principles, as well as SMART recovery, Celebrate Recovery (a Christian-based program), and many more.

Self-Sufficiency

Our goal before you complete our program(s) is to set you up for success in sobriety. We help you build life skills with nutrition and finance workshops, vocational services to help you get a job or go back to a job, assistance with enrolling or re-enrolling in college or trade schools, and we teach you how to be your own health advocate.

Take a Look Around

Our Treatment Centers in New Jersey

Dear Reader,

It is our passion to help you realize your power. It’s hard to be stuck emotionally, physically, and spiritually— not wanting to pick up another drink or meet your dealer, and not believing you can get through the day without it. Addiction is progressive, so to say you will be in this same place 1, 5, 10, 15 years from now isn’t exactly accurate, things will only get worse from here. Asking for help might not be what you want right now, but we do know it’s what you need

At some point along the way, you wanted to feel better and you chose the fastest way to get there. Over time, it became your only way to get that relief. The issue is that the shortcut to feeling better is the shortest-lasting and the most destructive. Today can be the last day you wake up needing to drink or get drugs to help you feel okay.

We see your potential, what we do is help you reach it.

Sincerely,
The FootprintsTeam

Frequently Asked Questions

Please take a look through our most frequently asked questions. You may call us at any point if you would like to speak with a specialist.

Do you live on campus or off campus during treatment?

During our medical detox program, you will be staying at our residential detox center. You will also remain in our residential center if you will be continuing on into our residential inpatient program.

After completing inpatient treatment, it is your choice to live either in sober living or attend our partial care, intensive outpatient, or outpatient programming from home. You are not required to live in a sober living environment if your home is a supportive, safe, and healthy environment for your recovery.

Can my spouse also enroll in treatment with me?

Yes, we do support couples who both need to work on themselves. We will allow couples to enroll in our outpatient programs, but with that, you will also need to participate in couples therapy together, as well as engage in therapies separately.

We will meet together as a team to devise the best plan for each of you separately, and for you as a couple.

What is the food like?

We have an in-house private chef prepare three meals/day for you during our inpatient programs. He is very talented and can customize your meals based on any dietary restrictions and preferences. All meals are nutrient-rich to replenish the body during this time of recovery and relaxation.

In addition to meals, our kitchen is always open and fully stocked with all of the beverages, snacks, and small meals you could ever want.

Can I smoke cigarettes during your treatment programs?

Yes, we do not restrict nicotine at our facilities. We know that treating addiction is challenging enough, we don’t wish to take away this comfort from our clients.

You will have breaks in between groups to smoke cigarettes in our outdoor patio area.

Am I allowed to drink coffee during treatment?

Yes, we do not restrict caffeine at our facilities. We provide Americanos, lattes, and regular drip coffee complimentary, with a variety of creamers and sugar to choose from. We also provide a variety of beverages, including water, at all of our facilities.

Recovery at Footprints

Our holistic approach to treatment provides healing in the body, mind, and spirit. Sobriety marks the liberation from the shackles of addiction. No longer held hostage by substances, individuals can regain control over their lives and make choices based on their true desires and values.

Strength Building

Substance abuse takes a toll on the body, leading to deteriorating health and vitality. In sobriety, you will embrace healthier habits, such as exercise, balanced nutrition, and regular sleep patterns, which contribute to a significant improvement in physical well-being. We provide many physical activities, in addition to a gym membership.

Mind & Soul

Addiction clouds the mind and exacerbates emotional turbulence. In sobriety, the fog lifts, and individuals gain mental clarity and emotional stability. They become better equipped to face challenges and cope with stress in a healthier manner.

Re-build Relationships

Active addiction often leads to strained relationships or isolation. Sobriety allows individuals to rebuild trust with family, friends, and loved ones, fostering healthier and more meaningful connections.

Healthy Routine

Sobriety at Footprints opens many doors to rediscovering old hobbies or developing new ones. Activities that were once neglected due to addiction resurface as sources of joy and passion, helping you find purpose and fulfillment.

Personal Growth

At our treatment programs in New Jersey, clients engage in self-reflection, identifying the root causes of their addiction and addressing underlying issues. This journey of self-discovery leads to personal growth, increased self-awareness, and a better understanding of one's strengths and weaknesses.

Embracing Supportive Communities

In treatment, you will learn to lean on your recovery community. Your recovery community is where individuals can share their experiences, learn from each other, and receive support. These communities create a sense of belonging and provide a crucial support system.

If you are like us, you know that one is too many and a thousand is never enough.
